Andersen 400 series windows with High-Performance Low-E4 glass employs a hermetically sealed system for optimal insulation from heat and cold. A patented low-conductivity spacer separates the two panes of glass. The space between the two panes of glass is filled with an argon gas blend to minimize the thermal transfer. Compared with ordinary dual pane windows, High-Performance Low-E4 glass is 35% more energy efficient in winter, and 41% more efficient in the summer. Depending on where you live, these can cut your energy bills by up to 25%.
Andersen Low-E4 glass windows and interior doors have been installed throughout the home. On the west side of the home, Low-E4 windows with SmartSun™ glass have been installed. The SmartSun™ is a glazing designed to reject unwanted solar heat while still allowing the sunlight to stream through.

Doors
All the exterior doors in the home were found at a local recycled building materials center. The garage door is insulated to R-17, with the look of old barnwood to match the reclaimed and reused wood throughout the home.
